For years, the only option for post-treatment housing was Denver sober living houses—shared homes where multiple people live under one roof. While these homes have helped many, we saw a need for something different: a place where individuals could build independence while still being part of a supportive community. That’s why we created SAL, and we are so excited to bring this unique living option to Wheat Ridge!
Why We Started Sober Apartment Living
SAL was founded by Craig Zoellner and his wife after their own daughter went through treatment. Like so many families, they wanted her to have a safe, stable environment to continue her recovery journey—but they quickly realized how limited the options were. Traditional sober houses can be crowded, making it hard for someone to adjust to independent living. Craig and his wife knew there had to be a better way, and that’s when the idea for SAL was born.
Instead of a house packed with residents, SAL offers apartment-style living. Here, you get your own space while still benefiting from the connection and accountability of a sober community. It’s the best of both worlds: real-life independence with built-in support.
What Makes SAL Different?
At our new Wheat Ridge location, you’ll find a welcoming environment designed to help you thrive. Here’s what sets us apart:
- Private, Comfortable Living Spaces – Our apartments are fully furnished, featuring two bedrooms and one bathroom. You’ll share your unit with just one other person, giving you personal space while still fostering connection.
- A Strong Sober Community – Recovery isn’t meant to be done alone. SAL hosts community events, social gatherings, and opportunities to connect with others who are on the same journey.
- Career and Life Skills Support – We believe in equipping our residents for long-term success. That’s why we offer job search assistance, career planning, budgeting workshops, and a tech center to help with work and school.
- Fitness & Wellness Focus – Physical well-being plays a huge role in recovery. Residents have access to an on-site fitness center, group workout options, and potential yoga classes coming soon!
- Affordable, All-Inclusive Rent – We are a non-profit organization, which allows us to keep costs manageable. Rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, TV streaming services, and regular drug testing for accountability.

We chose Wheat Ridge because it offers the perfect balance of city convenience and peaceful surroundings. Located at 4415 Teller Street, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, our new location is easily accessible to jobs, recovery meetings, and community resources. Plus, with beautiful parks and outdoor spaces nearby, it’s a great place to focus on healing and personal growth.
